It’s been 6 years that I got ophthalmic shingles. I was <45 + on antivirals right away (thank dr who refused to believe it was conjunctivitis-phone appt due to covid). Permanent cornea, optic nerve, all 3 branches of my trigeminal nerve damage. Pain meds for life. Get #shingrix

I got ophthalmic shingles before I was eligible for the shingles vaccine. Will be on pain meds for post herpetic neuralgia the rest of my life. Also permanent damage to my optic nerve.

You do not want shingles. It can be excruciatingly painful and cause permanent nerve damage.
But here’s the thing: if you had chickenpox, the virus never left - it only became dormant - to potentially reactivate later in life as shingles.
