Can you inject a signal to the @ekahau Sidekick 2 and hide it, but still make it detect it as an interference? Yes π
Ekahau #Sidekick2 behaves like Low-IF type of receiver with a single ADC, and in some of these architectures the center-freq of each 80 MHz sample you can hide a signal because it is often rejected or attenuated.
I am open to be wrong, easier to open the SK1 board that use a dual-ADC and a IQ Demodulator and that one looks more like a Zero-IF. SK2 might be the same, but a bit difficult to remove the metal covers without breaking it π

The fun thing with the @Aaronia_AG tablet, and their RTSA-Suite software. Is that if you have an idea, it probably works, and it usually does. Now I know why Aaronia so often said "sure" to me, because yes, now I know. I got the V6 to act just like the #Sidekick2 but Aaronia decodes with zero Wi-Fi adapters.
This mission is not ready for prime yet, but will do all I can do make RTSA user-friendly for Wi-Fi pros !

I love doing quality testing of hardware and software, and was trying to see if @ekahau #Sidekick2 was able to show a picture over RF.
Yes, it can. But why is live so different than survey? Short answer, would you like a survey file that is 10-20GB every hour? No!
It needs to be compressed, but what if we could save the actual data to file. Then I could share this to everyone who want it π

If you look in your survey file (extract the esx) you can find that SK1 uses 78kHz RBW for a few sweeps, but most are used with 156kHz.
SK2 does the same but with 39kHz for a few sweeps, but 99% of all sweeps is done with 156kHz same as SK1.
Why so bad? Because If you count the sweeps, you will se that SK1 has saved WAY more sweeps per second vs SK2.
I looked at my first SK2 file a few days ago, but this problem has been here all along. π§ A lot less sweeps is saved for SK2 than SK1 and with the same RBW.
In the picture below we have 24 seconds on SK1 and SK2
SK1, 156kHz RBW, 438 sweeps
SK2, 156kHz RBW, 138 sweeps
If I understand their config correctly.
Something is up, and I am amazed that nobody has mentioned this before.

It depends, it depends right? The hardware, the sensitivity, the RBW (resolution bandwidth) and a lot more.
To the left we have a Sweep scan of a section of the 6GHz band at WLPC using the @Aaronia_AG Spectran V6 and to the right we have @ekahau Sidekick2.
The avg noise floor in Ekahau with SK2 is 1dB above the limit where they paint the waterfall green. This makes it difficult to see weak signals.

Yo @ekahau what about letting use do a bit more in your spectrum view. For example letting use move the y-axis. #Sidekick2 spectrum shows a higher higher noise floor than the #Sidekick1 most likely bcs a more narrow RBW.
If we could change RBW and the reference level it could be easier to find a weak signal that is hidden in all the neon green color. SK1 is better at this.

Marketing, I understand. Sidekick 2 does a lot more than just spectrum so this post is not tell that this is a bad product but rather to explain that this is NOT the fastest spectrum analyser with the highest RBW on the market.
Spectran V6 Eco vs SK2 as a spectrum analyzer:
SK2 scans only Wi-Fi bands (no sub-1GHz IoT, or LTE), 50 sweeps a second with a RBW of 19kHz on all bands (fixed RBW) https://t.co/71MX3SeTIw
Spectran V6 Eco base model (9KHz to 8GHz) with 6E upgrade, sweep time of 500GHz/s, so 2.4 to 7.125 is around 105 sweeps a second, variable RBW of 62mHZ (Millihertz) to 200MHz, base model also have 44MHz RTBW. https://t.co/cvYIPBZv6A
In short, SK2 is not the fastest but still a great Wi-Fi product that does a LOT more than just spectrum.
