Pleased to report that the BM&S #sidewalkstamp on the corner of 13th Ave and 6th St SE has been rescued by @calgarystampede.
Construction of the new SAM Centre, due south of the Rundle Ruins, called for removal of the sidewalk in that area.
Hope to see it displayed some time.
@CBCScott Old Macleod Trail.
1. as it appeared on an 1883 survey map of Calgary townsite.
2. as it was shown on a 1965 city map, two years before it was renamed Spiller Road in honor of Ted Spiller.
3. a #sidewalkstamp, on the corner of 24th Ave and Spiller Rd SE.
Nice collection!
A #sidewalkstamp typo, across the street from a better-known McKibbin typo; “Linclon” Ave NW.
AND an adorable pooch.
Bonus- a house with dragon lamps.

Today, 13th Ave near 6th St SE is a construction site, as work on the SAM Centre proceeds.
While the old #yyc #sidewalkstamp on the corner is at risk, we've been told that it will be removed & displayed with other artifacts at the SAM Centre.
Can't wait to see it again!
This afternoon’s fun #flaneur find a #sidewalkstamp for @AlanZakrison This was along Denman next to tree wells. haven’t seen this before. I don’t believe maple trees are native to #BritishColumbia. @PlanVancouver #trees #MapleTree
On Richard's birthday tour of the lower Arroyo, we spied a well preserved curb poured by Hall-Johnson paving contractors of Alhambra. Funny how much of LA's 100 year old work still looks great, and new streets and sidewalks fail in months. #esotouricroadtrip #sidewalkstamp #graft
Since I'm feeling a bit lazy today, it might be a good day to repost this #YYC #sidewalkstamp #twittertour from 2018.
It's time for your Sunday #twittertour! We'll be flying all over #YYC today, looking at old #sidewalkstamps. While the stamps themselves are interesting, the stories of early Calgary sidewalk contractors are practically begging to be told! 1/12
A 1909 #sidewalkstamp on Royal Ave in lower #MountRoyalYYC, kissed by the warm October sun.
The contractors were BM&S- Batchelor, Marshall and Skarin.
Bob Marshall became #YYC mayor in 1919, and an MLA for 5 years after that, before moving to #YEG with Crown Paving.
The October sun has revealed some ancient #YYC #sidewalkstamp typo corrections on 5th Ave NW in @HillhurstSunny. Nice work, crew!

Across the street from the old Sunnyside Grocery- now gone- is another #sidewalkstamp, with a great typo.
Oh, the things you find when you take a walk, including an amazing chalk mural, covered in windows and doors (that tell the story of the bldg) and a sidewalk stamp I previously missed. #Lethbridge #yql
@JeanieGartly The loss of the Art Deco friezes from the York Hotel would really be too much to bear.
But it's great the King Eddy was saved, including some of the #ghostsigns.
Sad, however, that its #sidewalkstamp didn't survive.
(As far as I know, that is!)
Hey @AlanZakrison Found some interesting #sidewalkstamp today in Glendale. @zorica #walking #flaneur #sidewalk
@calgaryrants @KennyVLimaC @SWCalgaryGuy 60s sometime.
There is- or was- an old #sidewalkstamp at Fielding and Flint with that name.
This is is a 2021 pic- not mine- and I don't know if it's still there.
Sunny November days are perfect for capturing #sidewalkstamp details, like this 1910 McKibbin in Bridgeland #YYC.
An update on the 1911 McKibbin Bros #sidewalkstamp, once found on the southwest corner of 15th St and 8th Ave SE.
Although I'd earlier hoped it would be saved in place, it would seem that the City of Calgary decided to remove it to its own stamp collection, for future display.
