Looking at my reading on Dharmasastras he made a snide remark - What is there in Dharmashastras it is full of discrimination. So i asked him about Buddhist law, Jaina law and how they conducted their courts , householder life and society in general. He said he doesn't know and needs to study. When I showed references to Hindu Dharmasastra influence on Buddhist law and society he turned around and said may be Bauddhas Jainas were original creators of Dharmasastras and Hindus appropriated it later. So I asked him.. Are you saying Buddhists Jainas were the creators of discriminatory passages? He laughed it off and exited the conversation! Perhaps if it continues further he would have said that the "good" parts were appropriated from Buddhists Jainas and "bad" parts are Brahminical interventions.
