The very fact that China and Russia openly announce their intentions to deepen their military cooperation in order to „maintain global and regional stability“ and this goes unnoticed in the West comes to show that Western decision makers are in an absolute geopolitical stupor.
On this @ElbridgeColby is right. But this has been a long time coming.
The #DCBlob has failed at 21st century #grandstrategy & things like the #SinoRussianAxis, a more aggressive #Iran, & a more aggressive #NorthKorea are partly the result of a long-standing lack of adequate focus on #balanceofpower by US leadership.
By trying to be #GloboCop, the US actually squandered resources on peripheral theaters while speaking loudly & carrying an increasingly small stick. They made other powers angry while simultaneously not focusing & preparing for near-peer competition.
This was the opposite of what #realism counsels.
During the post-Cold War era only #Trump made efforts to embrace realism & the choice in the election today is whether he & #Vance can begin shifting towards the correct strategy before we end up losing a conflict with #China & suffer our own #SuezMoment.
The counter-coalition against the U.S. and its allies is very real and deepening. It's not just a "partnership of convenience."
Not only are they helping each other, but we should expect the possibility of simultaneous conflicts. We're not prepared.
We need to change course.
This is what happens when your leadership fails #Geopolitics 101.

The Telegraph doesn’t ask the logic questions: if all Russian troops from Vladivostok have been deployed in Ukraine and Russia has been defenseless for more than two years now, why hasn’t China attacked it to reclaim old territories? And why isn’t Putin fearing such scenario?
On this #Trump is entirely correct.
I have been warning about the consolidating #SinoRussianAxis for years & well before Trump ever began running for president. But the #DCBlob ignored this & did nothing to prevent it. Indeed they undid the great geopolitical advantage ushered in by #Nixon/#Kissinger.
At least Trump made an effort. He should again. Make no mistake #KamalaHarris/#Walz will just be more of the same, pushing our top geopolitical opponents into a strategic embrace that ultimately undermines our interests around the world.

A Russia acquiescing to #China throughout #Eurasia, whether due to an intentional #SinoRussianAxis or weakness or both, becomes the major spoiler of 21st century #geopolitics.
That is bad for the US. Worse than even the specific outcome in #Ukraine.
The United States cannot allow a Russian victory in Ukraine but it also needs a Russian Federation powerful enough to counter-balance Chinese power in the interstitial states, from Mongolia to Tajikistan & beyond that, in Laos & Vietnam.

Completely agree with @WeTheBrandon.
The #DCBlob confuses wish lists, including parochial domestic priorities, for strategy.
It is pretty hard to do #GrandStrategy when you utterly fail at #Geopolitics 101.
Case & point- the Blob helped facilitate a #SinoRussianAxis in #Eurasia while screwing up in #Afghanistan & helping #Iran gain power by blowing up the #MiddleEast balance of power.
Failure all the way around. But make no mistake, while this failure includes the #Biden Administration, it goes much further than that & includes traditional GOP types that refuse to prioritize core security interests.
We need #realism NOT #neoconservatism or #neoliberalism today.
No one is doing grand strategy today. Just as they weren't doing grand strategy in the run-up to WW1. Just like before WW1, our generals today are doing operational success. In other words, tactics over strategy. That's why we're heading toward something bleak if we lose November
