Camel spiders are widespread in warm climate regions, including the Mediterranean region, where they hunt for prey as #nocturnal #hunters. The fast animals run primarily with their back three pairs of #legs. The first pair of legs is reduced in size and serves as a #tactileorgan, while the #pedipalps are elongated and are primarily used to catch prey. At the end of the pedipalps there are special #sensory organs, but also adhesive organs that can be used to hold prey (and to get hold while #climbing). The chelicerae are thickened like bubbles at the base and literally knead the prey. Digestive secretions are released so that the #food can ultimately be absorbed in a thick consistency.
Poison glands do not exist. The closest relatives (#sistergroup) are the #pseudoscorpions, which, among other things, share homologously modified chelicerae with the camel spiders as an apomorphy.
Carlos E. Santibáñez-López et al. (2021) address the diversification and post-glacial #rangeexpansion of giant North American camel spiders in genus Eremocosta.
Arie van der Meijden et al. (2012) deal with the #functionalmorphology of the chelicerae of two #ecologically different camel spider species and also address the chelicerae as a #multifunctional organ that, in addition to feeding, also serves for #digging and #defense.

@ChristianGzlzz ¡Hola! Pertenece al orden (grupo) #Solifugae. Son conocidos como solifugos y carecen de veneno por lo que no se consideran de importancia médica #NIM✅ Son muy frágiles del opistosoma ("cola") por lo que no es aconsejable mover así el frasco, ya que podría resultar lastimado.
