Now available to preorder on Blu-ray in the US from #Distribpix and #SomethingWeirdVideo and shipping after their #HalfwayToBlackFriday #Sale later this month: #TheLustfulTurk / #Jezebel (1968/1969)!
During the 1960s, producer David F. Friedman’s ongoing quest to elevate the quality of sexploitation production led to numerous period pieces and costume comedies. Among his most lavish such efforts were THE LUSTFUL TURK (1968) and THE JOYS OF JEZEBEL (1969), each of which has been newly restored in 4K from their 35mm original camera negatives and come to Blu-ray for the very first time from Something Weird + Distribpix.
In THE LUSTFUL TURK (1968), the English aristocrat Emily Barlow is en route to India along with her handmaiden, when pirates seize hold of their ship. Taking the ladies back to their harem, their captors force them to partake in the most unspeakably erotic torments, which Emily reports in detail to her friend Sylvia back home via regularly written letters. Amid the depravity and barbarism of the world in which she's now held captive, the debauched Emily slowly calculates how she might take her revenge. Directed by Byron Mabe (She Freak), this raucous and sensual costume saga was penned by Friedman himself, and features Linda Stiles (Lee Frost’s The Animal) and Harvey Shain (Fugitive Girls).
Jezebel herself has just arrived in hell, but quickly strikes a deal with Lucifer in THE JOYS OF JEZEBEL (1969), so that she can return to earth provided she delivers to Lucifer the beautiful virgin Rachel. However, since the cunning Jezebel has scores to settle, she uses her powers to switch bodies with Rachel, sending the beautiful innocent back to hell in her place! While Lucifer searches for Rachel in hell, Jezebel is free to exact her revenge. An exquisitely beautiful and extraordinarily colorful sexy comedy, from director Peter Perry (Kiss Me Quick), THE JOYS OF JEZEBEL stars Luanne Roberts (101 Acts of Love) and Dixie Donovan (The Notorious Cleopatra).

Coming on May 19th on Blu-ray in the US from @KinoLorber and #somethingweirdvideo as #18 in their #ForbiddenFruit line: #TheWagesOfSin (1938)!
The gold standard of exploitation films, Willis Kent’s The Wages of Sin is perhaps the most polished (and emotionally compelling) of the many low-rent melodramas that depicted the moral degradation of innocent women. Marjorie (Constance Worth) is an overworked laundress who treats herself to a night on the town, but a cocktail and a few puffs of “murder weed” scramble her moral compass and leads her into the arms of ruthless procurer Tony Kilonis (Willy Castello). After being exploited as a call girl and eventually imprisoned in a brothel, Marjorie escapes and confronts Tony, climaxing in one of the most unconventional endings of any courtroom drama. This special edition of The Wages of Sin was restored in 4K by the UCLA Film & Television Archive, from the original 35mm negatives, and is presented here in cooperation with Something Weird and Sonney Amusement Enterprises.

Coming on March 31st on Blu-ray in the US as #46 in the #KinoCult line from @KinoLorber and #SomethingWeirdVideo: #TheSexploiters / #RawLove (1965)!
Kino Cult and Something Weird present two rarely-seen “roughies” culled from the lower depths of the American grindhouse. In The Sexploiters, Terri Steele is a Long Island housewife who immerses herself in the seedy subculture of the camera club, where clients engage live models for private photography sessions. Director Al Ruban later brought the gritty black-and-white aesthetics of of The Sexploiters to John Cassavetes’ 1968 Faces (which Ruban shot and edited), launching a decades-long collaboration between the two artists. Raw Love is a hicksploitation classic virtually unseen for 50 years: a sordid slice of life among the depraved moonshiners and uninhibited daughters of an unspecified rural community. Both films were mastered from original 35mm prints from the Sonney Amusement Enterprises Collection at the UCLA Film & Television Archive.

Presented in partnership with Something Weird Video...
A double feature of campy chaos from exploitation titan Herschell Gordon Lewis! Lewis's underground answer to The Beatles's A HARD DAY'S NIGHT, BLAST-OFF GIRLS follows the story of Boogie Baker, a slimy music impresario who leads a band called The Big Blast (portrayed by Chicago-based garage rock band The Faded Blue) down a path of sex, pot parties, and surreal hang-outs with Colonel Sanders from Kentucky Fried Chicken. Written by frequent Lewis collaborator Allison Louise Downe (BLOOD FEAST), THE GIRL, THE BODY, AND THE PILL is an Afterschool Special from hell that finds teenager Randy Hunt (Nancy Lee Noble, SHE-DEVILS ON WHEELS) navigating sex-ed madness, a psychotic father, and questionable facts about birth control pills. AGFA and Something Weird are thrilled to bring these overlooked Lewis treasures to Blu-ray for the first time ever—"in eye-blasting color!"

Now available to order from @VinegarSyndrome and shipping at the end of this month on Blu-ray in the US from their #Distribpix imprint and #somethingweirdvideo: #ConfessionsOfAPsychoCat and #TheFatBlackPussycat (1967/1963)!
As distribution models shifted and a mere tease of bare flesh wasn't nearly enough to satisfy the grindhouse, filmmakers and distributors realized that their now seemingly chaste older product wasn't going to fill seats. One method of solving this problem was to take an under-performing feature and rework it with new scenes and a trashier campaign. Two of the most fascinating examples of this are CONFESSIONS OF A PSYCHO CAT and THE FAT BLACK PUSSYCAT, both of which are at last hitting Blu-ray from Distribpix + Something Weird, newly restored from their original negatives.
A mysterious woman gathers a trio of misfits and offers them the chance to compete in a strange survival competition for a prize of $100,000. But there's a deadly catch as she's set up a series of fatal traps, each reflecting the vices of her participants. Will anyone survive the fiendish clutches of this psycho cat? A gritty, NYC-set adaptation of "The Most Dangerous Game," CONFESSIONS OF A PSYCHO CAT began life as a straight murder thriller before being transformed into a terrific sleazy mix of bloody killings and drug-fueled sex, even featuring legendary boxer Jake LaMotta (Raging Bull) in one of his few acting appearances. A black-gloved killer is on the loose, stalking and slashing young hepcat couples in NYC’s Greenwich Village. With a black cat strangely found prowling near each of the corpses, a detective goes undercover in the youth scene to try and sniff out this fiendish assailant, while romancing a college professor whose own strange interests have placed her too in the killer's sights.
Originally a more traditional whodunit set in the then-trendsetting early 60s Village beat scene, THE FAT BLACK PUSSYCAT proved a box office flop and was re-tooled into a delectably crass proto-slasher/giallo, complete with nudity and several splashy new slice-n-dice killings! At long last you can now finally enjoy both versions in stunning new restorations.
