The #SREC declined to concur with censure resolutions against Speaker Dustin Burrows and State Reps. Angie Chen Button, Cody Harris, Jeff Leach, and Morgan Meyer.
Two of the censured aren't seeking reelection.
Why does Texas even have an #SREC if they are only going to take orders from DC? It seems like @abrahamgeorge could just call the White House for a 5 minute phone call and not waste people's time on a Saturday. So much for Texas being a sovereign state. @HortonHearsTx
TEXAS: Corruption in the Texas State Republican Executive Committee: Orders from Washington to Usurp the Will of the People of Texas!
Today, after the State Republican Executive Committee voted to uphold the censure of Representative Jared Patterson, Chairman Abraham George closed the doors, went into executive session, and cut the live feed so the public could not see. It was then that he received a phone call from Matt Brasseaux, who was appointed by Donald Trump to serve as the Director of the Office of Political Affairs in the White House.
The phone was placed on speaker while dozens of SREC members gathered to listen. They were instructed not to vote on Penalty Three, which would remove censured representatives from the primary ballot. Members were threatened with withheld funding and told that they “did not want to go against the will of Trump and Washington, D.C.”
The precinct chairs and state delegates voted for Penalty Three! Yet again, our Republican chairman and 40% of our SREC members have bowed to the will of Washington and the desire for money and power over the will of the people.
Four male SREC members spoke up against this corruption. It’s time to clean house. Or will we continue to bend the knee?

It pains me to write this but I bet the @TexasGOP is going to lose more #GrassrootsClub Members with their votes today. #txlege #srec
🇺🇸 Today we celebrate Constitution Day—the foundation of our liberty and the safeguard of our God-given rights. As Texans and Americans, it’s our duty to preserve and defend this timeless document for future generations. #ConstitutionDay #txlege #SD25 #SREC

Great message @jeremywstory I encourage Republican leadership to Read this…and then read it again! @TexasGOP #SREC
As a Texas SREC member: Who does or does not get censured shouldn't be our main focus. It is important but, something more core is at stake. The more important question is: should a political party be able to control the selection process/standards for those who represent their brand (candidates/incumbents)? A political party has every right to set the political standards for how people qualify or don't qualify to be involved in its primary selection process. It isn't about being mean or targeting anyone. It is about who controls what a political party is about? Is it the elected officials using that name? Or is it the party itself who was formed for a particular purpose?
If a company like McDonald's or Chick-fil-A gets to set the standards of its brand and can revoke a franchisee's ability to sell their brand products if they choose to try to sell a competitor's products...how much more then should a political party be able to prevent those who run towards the wrong goal post from being considered as a candidate in their own private selection process? Any candidate can participate in the general election; not any candidate should be able to participate in particular party's primary.

Enjoyed catching up with Gov. @GregAbbott_TX this morning. We laughed about the time the Dems fled to Ardmore, OK and New Mexico—takes me back to my #redistricting days on #txlege staff with then Rep. @PhilKingTX. #SREC
