𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗗’𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 & 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗿𝘂𝗽𝘁 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗩𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 Indiana Crime Guns Task Force (ICGTF) investigators recently became aware of retaliatory threats of violence from individuals known to carry firearms, and they partnered with several IMPD units to quickly intervene and keep our community safe. On July 7th, 2026, investigators attempted a traffic stop in the 3200 block of N Capitol Avenue on a vehicle believed to be connected to those threats. The driver refused to pull over and led officers on a vehicle pursuit. Officers performed a precision immobilization technique (PIT) maneuver, which safely ended the vehicle pursuit. However, still refusing to give up, the three suspects fled on foot. Thanks to the fast coordination of the IMPD K9 unit, ICGTF detectives, and IMPD Northwest and North District Violence Reduction and Violent Crime Task Force officers, all three suspects were apprehended. Three firearms, including one with a machine gun conversion device, were recovered from the vehicle. All three suspects had prior firearms-related convictions and were preliminarily arrested for firearms offenses and resisting law enforcement. This is a strong example of collaborative, proactive policing. Our officers’ coordination, readiness, and intelligence prevented potential violence and removed three illegally possessed firearms from our community. On July 8th, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO) filed felony firearms charges and charges associated with fleeing from IMPD officers against all three suspects. An arrest and a charge are merely accusations, and all suspects should be considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. IP260053777
