Really sad that stories like that of Kaundinya aren't told by our filmmakers on the various OTT platforms. His story will easily be a 6-8 episode, 1 season arc and will make for stirring TV. A Brahmin merchant (so much for the old "if you cross the seas you aren't Brahmin anymore) of the Kaundinya Gotram he possibly was from somewhere along the Orissa /Andhra / Tamil Nadu coast. On a voyage to the east, possibly to a trading post somewhere in modern day Thailand, Bali or Vietnam for further trade with the Chinese empire his ship was attacked by pirates somewhere near the Cambodian coast. Kaundinya rallied the defense of his ship and men and fought back bravely but ship itself was damaged and it needed to be beached for further repairs. Observing the noble soldier / merchant from the jungles was the leader of the pirate band, a woman warrior named Soma. Impressed she approaches him and proposes marriage, either because she was just so beautiful or he had no choice he accepted. Together they possibly conquered smaller kingdoms and established the Kingdom of the Khmer. Tell me this is not OTT show worthy!
