Just as we see #StormAusten depart Airmass imagery and our eyes are now focussed on the huge cloud mass developing in the NE Atlantic, This is developing #StormBoelo , This storm will be much bigger in terms of area with a very large cyclonic envelope and pressure likely to fall down below 950mbs which is very deep for October close to to Scotland . 947.9mbs is the record and that was set only in 2025 in Baltasound. Its possible we beat that with #StormBoelo tomorrow evening with centres from 943-950 predicted as the Storm hits the Western Isles.
The cloud head now starting to emerge onto the Cold Left exit Jet quadrant and the low will now undergo rapid cyclogenesis in the next 24hrs.
Very wide set of occluding fronts will move across the UK on Saturday with the high likelihood of rain stretching uninterrupted from North to South for a time tomorrow. 30-50mm or more over the West and upslopes. Already 3 day totals over 80mm on Exmoor and Dartmoor.
Low will be slowly becoming Barotropic through tomorrow night and Sunday as its engagement with the Jet Stream ends. Winds to over 80mph likely in exposure , and 70-75mph as far south as the Irish Sea coasts.
However the winds will not be anything too unusual for the Western Isles or the Western Parts of Scotland, However #Boelo will become a big storm in terms of size and it will have impacts across the whole country with a lot of wind and rain spreading east with the persistence of the strong winds from the WNW then NW persisting into Sunday even as the low weakens as pressure rises from the SW keep the very strong gusts going throughout the weekend in the N and eventually NE too.

The situation is largely confirmed, barring unexpected, last-minute changes in the cyclone's path or intensification.
The system is currently over the central North Atlantic, with a central pressure of around 989 hPa. By this time tomorrow, its centre is forecast to be northwest of the Outer Hebrides, after losing around 30 to 40 hPa, associated with explosive cyclogenesis.
The first impacts will be felt tomorrow morning, as the leading frontal system crosses over the islands, bringing gusts of 60 mph or more in exposed locations.
Stronger winds will follow through the afternoon and evening, initially affecting the Inner Hebrides. With the cyclone's centre expected to pass closer to the Outer Hebrides, its position may offer some temporary shelter from the strongest winds during the first phase of the event.
However, as the system continues eastwards overnight and into Sunday morning, the wind field is forecast to shift, bringing the potential for gusts exceeding 80 mph across exposed parts of the Hebrides, particularly along northwestern coasts and over higher ground.
Northeast mainland Scotland and Orkney will also experience the effects of this powerful system, particularly on Sunday as the cyclone moves eastwards.
Winds should gradually ease from late Sunday into Monday as Storm Boelo begins to weaken, although conditions may remain unsettled for a time.
