The price of gold on the international market is rising. RBZ has just devalued the value of ZiG by about 40%. Is ZiG truly a #StructuredCurrency backed by gold? My take is that RBZ has blinked first, and it’s a point of no return for ZiG!!

#StructuredCurrency So all this fanfare and pageantry is a ruse to disguise the removal of zeros! We have leaders that 1. do not respect us & 2. have no interest in actually fixing the problem sustainably. You can't fix a leaking roof by painting over the stains on the ceiling!

As we engage in the #StructuredCurrency or #CurrencyDebate, it’s important to bring the views of the monetary authorities themselves, the @ReserveBankZIM … One of the conditions (macroeconomic FUNDAMENTAL) for a stable currency is: “A minimum Foreign Exchange RESERVES equivalent to one (1️⃣) year of #ImportCover” @daddyhope was right to raise the issue of the import cover… it’s an indicator of currency stability.

#CurrencyDebate #StructuredCurrency We all know that the #CurrencyBoard or joining the #RandMonetaryUnion will deliver a STABLE currency from day one. Why is the ruling elite not taking that route? Both the CB and RMU has one disadvantage: * The RBZ will not be able to control money supply and will be forced to align most of our monetary and fiscal policies accordingly. * It will be difficult to do our money laundry services as SA banking system (or CB) is strict and a bit tight.
