ABS Expansion: Doubling Down On The Strongest Part Of The Business
The most visible growth driver for Styrenix over the next few years is its ongoing ABS expansion program. Rather than pursuing a large, aggressive capacity addition in one go, management has opted for a phased approach.
This allows the company to align capacity creation with market demand while limiting execution and balance sheet risks.
The first phase is already underway.
Phase 1 involves the addition of 50,000 TPA of ABS capacity at the Moxi facility, taking India’s ABS capacity from 1,00,000 TPA to 1,50,000 TPA. The project involves an investment of roughly ₹350 crore and is expected to be commissioned during H2 FY27. Management has indicated that equipment orders have already been placed, long-lead items have been secured and no major cost escalation has been reported so far.
Beyond this, the company has already announced its intention to pursue Phase 2, which would add another 50,000 TPA of ABS capacity, eventually taking India’s ABS capacity to 2,00,000 TPA.
While timelines remain flexible, management has indicated that the decision will largely depend on how quickly Phase 1 gets absorbed by the market.
