We lost that many lions murdered in cold blood in a single day! What the heck! 2 liters of lion fat. Lion heads and paws buried. No manner of remorse should get these folks lenience. Good job UWA and others for cracking down these heinous criminals. A heavy sentence! #SupportUWA

Missing parts point to a not entirely new challenge. Perhaps new in the sense of famed ‘kings of the jungle’ (lions). Definitely a possible issue of wildlife trade previously known around elephants in Africa but whose reports had significantly reduced in Uganda. #SupportUWA 8

On both missions I ensured that we compiled and submitted issues papers that must be somewhere at my former workstation (AUTO) and perhaps a copy made available to @ugwildlife with recommendations from stakeholders including those suggested by the communities. #SupportUWA 5

In April 2019 I returned to this area of Queen Elizabeth National Park on a similar mission but this time my role was coordinating a team of media. We sought to investigate the issues fueling the strife and raise these voices of the communities using the press. #SupportUWA 4

As we listened to the stories of those ever-expanding communities of people in the park, you’d vividly see that their many but somewhat similar accounts pointed to a very uncomfortable relationship between humans and wildlife; a relationship that was boiling over. #SupportUWA 3

In April 2018 I was tasked with leading a private research mission on behalf of the Association of Uganda Tour Operators (AUTO) after eleven lions had been found dead around the enclave of Hamukungu - Queen Elizabeth National Park due to poisoning. #SupportUWA 2

I’ve been gutted since yesterday evening when the news began to spread about the death of several lions in the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, UGANDA where lions are famous for their tree climbing trait. And I’d like to reflect in commiseration. #SupportUWA

@mikeinuganda I just received a text too that UWA acknowledges they have picked information about some lions having died in the Ishasha sector and are establishing the facts around this unfortunate incident and shall let the world know. Conservation is a tough and relentless task. #SupportUWA
