JUST IN: The mother of the 6-year old boy who shot his teacher in Virginia has been sentenced to prison. On January 6th, 2023, Abigail Zwerner was shot by one of her students who brought a gun to school. After the shooting, the boy reportedly bragged to a school employee: "I shot that b**** dead." During the class, the boy got up and fired the gun, "one shot that struck Zwerner in her left hand and upper torso." The boy's mother, Deja Taylor, has now been charged with using marijuana while in possession of the firearm as well as lying about her drug use when purchasing the gun. Despite the fact that the weapon was not kept away in a lockbox, a trigger lock or any sort of safe, Taylor will only spend 21 months in prison. She was facing up to 25 *years.* It gets even crazier. The weapon that the boy used in the classroom was reportedly used in another shooting just weeks before. According to text messages, Taylor had shot at the boy's father after seeing him with a girlfriend. "Not once, but twice someone nearly lost their lives because of Taylor's offenses of conviction," prosecutors said. While testifying, Zwerner opened up about her "psychological scars" that she still suffers from. "Not only do I bear physical scars from the shooting that will remain with me forever, I contend daily with deep, psychological scars that plague me during most waking moments and invade my dreams," she said. 21 months is pathetic.
