Laut Berichten ukrainischer Medien und der New York Times fiel die Entscheidung in einer Regierungskommission, obwohl die formelle Zustimmung des Kabinetts noch aussteht und das Abkommen faktisch als beschlossen gilt.
Politik, Geld und Einfluss: Zu den Gewinnern gehört Ronald S. Lauder, ein langjähriger Weggefährte Trumps, sowie das Energieunternehmen TechMet, das teilweise einer US-Investitionsagentur gehört. Damit wandert ein zentraler Zukunftsrohstoff in den Einflussbereich politisch vernetzter Investoren, während Europa und Deutschland erneut nur zuschauen.
