Returning to #TedByfield, the apologist for #apartheid, & his magazines Alberta Report & Western Report. I read them in the 1990s not because I agreed w/anything in their pages, but because I was curious about what they had to say. Perusing those publications was an education.
The recently deceased #TedByfield, publisher of Alberta Report & Western Report was an ardent opponent of #DesmondTutu’s & #NelsonMandela’s, and an unrepentant apologist for and advocate of #SouthAfrica’s White Supremacist #Apartheid regime.

Tried reading some of his commentaries. But after a handful, I stopped. Most of my friends in Calgary were raised Christian and voted PC, as did I. #TedByfield connected w none of them. Wrote him off as a crank.
#TedByfield used misogyny as a weapon. Not content to be passively gynophobic, he wielded his egregious, hateful opinions in the most contemptible way. So very christian, in that traditional way that promotes #patriarchy, #toxicmasculinity and #ViolenceAgainstWomen.
Read this thread about St John's Cathedral Boys' School. #TedByfield was one of the founders and a teacher. He never expressed remorse for the violent abuse many of its students suffered there.
@KMGVictoria #tedbyfield was a man who held deeply repulsive, misogynist, xenophobic, hateful views and opinions that he widely promoted. He was likely a sectarian christian who made public and private displays of "kindness" to those who submitted to his whims, demands and judgements.
