You're not the first person to create a 𝑌𝑜𝑢𝑇𝑢𝑏𝑒 channel, and you DEFINITELY won't be the last. You're not even the first person with that business idea in your head either... and honestly, you won't be the last. There's this guy I watch a lot on YouTube , Eyitemi Journal. He's a 22-year-old creator who's heavily into tech, productivity, and personal development. The first time I stumbled across his content, he was just 20. And I remember thinking, how does a 20-year-old have this much wisdom? The kind that even some people in their 30s don't seem to have. If it were years ago, my old self would probably have said, "They're lying about their age." but for a man? doing this? that's another culture shock. But thankfully, I've grown past that. And for the most of it , Eyitemi doesn't make it any easier to believe. He pays his own rent in Lagos, has this deep voice, and carries such a mature perspective on life. Then something happened earlier this year. I found myself randomly stalking his page because he wasn't posting as often anymore. Like almost half of 2025 . The funny thing is, in the past, whenever he drops a video, I'm there immediately... like one babe trying to get somebody's attention and sadly, he's one creative I know who's not a active on any social media platform cause he finds it distracting. Earlier this year, I got a notification he uploaded a video showing his new workspace, You need to see the smiles on my face .It gave me the feeling that whatever has been keeping him away from YouTube is paying off. I just moved on sadly but still watch the old videos from time to time. Then sometime late last year, I discovered Moh Sheriff. Guess what? He's just 21. But somehow, he gives me the same feeling as Eyitemi. Cause tell me how someone that young has Over 3,000 valuable pieces of content on Instagram, a published book, speaking on big stages, TEDx... name it. And from all indications, he's doing incredibly well for himself. Every time I come across people like these, I can't help but laugh and think... "My 21-year-old self was just out there posting memes on Facebook ." But then again, we all have different journeys, so there's really no room for envy. So what have I learned from watching these guys? ✉️ They're in spaces where thousands of Nigerians are already creating content. Nothing about the niche is new. What makes them unforgettable is their spice. That's the difference. ✉️ Your spice will always be your selling point. Maybe not from day one...But eventually, people will begin to see it. I know this because like I said, I've succeed stalked them up to going down to their old videos. Videos with barely 100 views. Videos with almost no comments. They kept showing up anyway. And funny enough, that lesson hit me in real life this morning. I woke up to several tags because a big personality was looking for someone to review a movie. A lot of people tagged me. And I just sat there thinking...Maybe this is my spice. Three years ago, I wasn't this good. Not even close. But I kept posting anyway even with "memes " I was publishing. I'm still not where I want to be, but I keep doing it my own way. But Imagine if I had waited. Imagine if I had refused to start because I wasn't as good as that lady on X whose movie reviews I used to admire so much and wanted to be like her so badly. What if I had waited until I felt "ready"? So yes... You're not the first. And you won't be the last. Whatever business you're building, whatever niche you've chosen, whatever side hustle you're chasing... Bring your own spice to it. Learn as you go. Forget trying to have the perfect profile, the neatest timeline, or thousands of likes before you feel qualified. Just keep showing up. One day, all those little efforts will add up.
