This is the type of "college readiness" that is tested on #standardizedtests.
I wish there was some way to analyze what percent of student got this question right simply from #testpreptrix
using no calculator or paper, choose an answer to the poll below.

These are #SAT questions given in 2018.

And I haven't even dug into question level issues ... if you check out some of my #testpreptrix you'll find some but thats a whole 'nother can of worms.
Why? just why?
Do they intend to confuse test takers? Why put the paragraph question 2 asks about on a different page? Why have such weird formatting?

Answer exactly what you’re asked for or else you’ll probably get it wrong.
Once again I have to teach this student that the SAT is aggressively, (evilly), deliberately, actively, creating situations in which you are likely to overlook minutia (details?) such as different scales on the x and y axes.

The #TestPrepTrix here is to remind them that the #SAT is aggressively actively pedantic and always offers opportunities to select the thing they didn’t ask for but you did have to solve for.
Here the student needed to hear 1 word to get it right: similar.
The #TestPrepTrix here is to teach them to expect similar triangles when intersecting or overlapping triangles are given.
Student: why did they give a picture that is not to scale and not necessary to solve the question?

I’m not sure what the #SAT demonstrates but “aptitude,” “potential,” “ability,” and “cognitive characteristics” are empty terms uses to avoid answering.
