DIS recently welcomed back our 2nd graders from a field trip to Camp Tyler. While there, students enjoyed participating in various activities, such as team-building games, learning about local plant and animal wildlife, stargazing and survival exercises.

Today, we welcomed 7th grade student, Gentry Martinez, as Principal for a Day. Gaining insight into the inner workings of our school, Gentry then made an important campus-wide announcement that there will be a free dress day for students on Fri, Jan 31.

Today, 3rd grade students visited Juniper Senior Village to spread Christmas cheer by singing holiday songs to senior residents. Students sang Christmas songs in several languages in hopes of bringing some holiday joy. Happy holidays from DIS!

Last Thurs, DIS high school students got together for a fun evening of food, friends and gratitude as they celebrated Friendsgiving before the holiday break. Students brought their favorite dish or item as they came together for a special potluck dinner.

Last night, the DIS Honor Societies inducted their new members. Our English, German, Spanish, French, Math and National Honor Societies all welcomed new members this year, as parents and guardians cheered them on in the MPR. Congratulations to the inductees!

Today, 4th grade students, in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, took a field trip to the Arlington Music Hall. Students learned all about the history of flamenco and traditional flamenco costumes, and then were able to learn some flamenco dances moves.

Last Fri, Sept 27, 5th grade students held a silent disco, while middle school students held a sock hop, all to close Homecoming Week. Students had a blast with some great snacks, good music and social time with friends.

Yesterday, DIS hosted a college fair at our Waterview campus. Over 50 different colleges and universities were welcomed as students were able to visit different tables and speak with college representatives about academics, student life, athletics and more.

This morning, we welcomed new DIS parents to our Churchill campus for a New Family Coffee event. Parents had breakfast and coffee with our Head of School and attending staff and were able to meet other new families.

This week, some of our middle & high school swim team, along w/ swim coach, Laetitia Sevin, traveled to Paris for the '24 Summer Paralympics. All week, students will get a chance to enjoy Paris while taking in some of this year's games.

Continuing an annual DIS tradition today, our graduating seniors returned to the Churchill campus for their Senior Walk. Seniors walked around Churchill in their caps and gowns, with all of the lower school students cheering them on.

Last week, DIS 5th graders joined the 6th through 8th graders for our End of Year Middle School Field Day. Students enjoyed a fun afternoon of activities and games, including the human ring toss, hungry hippo inflatable game and more.
