Many factories there don’t really operate in “days.” They operate in: 1. shipment dates 2. container schedules 3. dyeing timelines 4. knitting delays 5. export deadlines 6. Banking Deadlines A conversation at PM about collars or fabric shrinkage is completely normal, and merchandisers carrying roll of fabric on a 2 wheeler in the middle of the night is a common sight. Entire production decisions are sometimes made over tea standing beside fabric rolls. The place quietly revolves around knitwear in ways most people outside the industry never fully see.

#ThreadsOfTruth #9 One of the oldest realities in clothing manufacturing is that most garments look excellent before they are actually worn. Some fabrics photograph beautifully but trap heat and some fits look sharp standing still but behave awkwardly in movement. Some collars survive studio shoots but not repeated washing. Garments are ultimately tested by ordinary life. Not by mannequins or lighting or marketing campaigns. Clothing reveals its honesty slowly but surely.

#ThreadsOfTruth #8 There are people in garment factories who can identify fabric quality almost immediately just by touching it once. No testing. No technical explanation. Just experience and instinct built over decades. They pull the fabric slightly,rub it between fingers, stretch it once, and give you the fabric kundali. No need to argue with them. The interesting part is that they are the quietest people in the factory. Experience in manufacturing usually becomes calmer with time.

#ThreadsOfTruth #7 “Premium” is one of the most overused words in fashion. Generally people associate "premium" with: * a minimal logo * expensive packaging * muted colors * celeb endorsememts * high price tags But, Real premium starts much earlier. In: * yarn selection * knitting quality * dye consistency * garment finishing * fit development * durability ( shape & color ) Customers eventually discover the truth after the third or fourth wash. That’s where products reveal what they really are. :)

#ThreadsOfTruth #6 A lot of brands misunderstand oversized fits. Oversized doesn’t mean: just increasing width and length randomly. Good oversized silhouettes are carefully balanced. 1. Shoulder drop. 2. Sleeve fall. 3. Neck proportion. 4. Body width. 5. Length ratio. 6. Fabric drape. Everything matters. A poorly balanced oversized tee looks sloppy. A well-engineered one feels effortless. That difference usually comes from pattern understanding, not blind trend-following.

#ThreadsOfTruth #5 One of the easiest ways to identify a poorly made Polo T-shirt? Look at the collar after a few washes. If the Collar loses shape quickly, it usually means compromises were made somewhere: yarn quality - different yarns in body & collar stitching tension - imbalanced placement fabric recovery due to wrong knitting gauge The collar is one of the hardest parts of a Polo T-shirt to get right consistently. Customers may not always know the technical reason. But they immediately feel the difference. Good manufacturing is often invisible. The bad one stands out & many don't even know it .

Fashion pricing today is influenced by: 1. ad costs 2. influencer budgets 3. brand positioning 4. packaging 5. marketplace commissions 6. warehousing 7. shipping 8. returns Not just fabric alone. Good products deserve good margins & Brands deserve a premium and command that. But customers should also understand what they are actually paying for. Its important you understand manufacturing deeply, so you don’t need to hide behind excessive markups.

#ThreadsOfTruth #3 A T-shirt’s quality is not decided by GSM alone. This is one of the biggest misconceptions in fashion. A 240 GSM tee can still feel terrible. ( will go in detail about GSM later ) What actually matters are : 1.Yarn quality 2.Knitting consistency 3.Stability 4.Washing process ( bio/silicone etc) 5.Finishing 6.Dyeing process 7. Fit Pattern balance 8. Neck Rib / Collar construction Good fabric is engineered. Not just “made thicker.” Anyone can make a heavy T-shirt. Very few can make one that: falls correctly = ( Stability) feels soft = ( washing process) holds shape = ( stability ) breathes well = ( Knitting Structure ) lasts long = ( Yarn Quality) That’s where real product shows up.

#ThreadsOfTruth #2 Most fashion brands today don’t really make products. They source them. Add branding. Spend heavily on marketing. Layer it with packaging and perception. Then price it far beyond what it actually costs to make. The customer often ends up paying for: ads, influencers, branding exercises, multiple middle layers. Not necessarily better quality. If you want to start a tshirt brand, understand: .fabrics .construction .fit .shrinkage .finishing .durability .consistency That changes how you build a product. Better control. Faster development. Fewer compromises.More honesty in pricing. The internet made branding easy. But real manufacturing experience is still rare. And over time, customers can always feel the difference.
