Starting the week with some positivity. My journey to developing my #ThriveThinking philosophy has been a huge passion of mine over the last two years. It feels like momentum is building all the time, and that there is a now a huge movement of people that ‘get it’ which is really encouraging.
I was excited to hear Nobel Memorial Prize winning economist @JosephEStiglitz talking about a ‘Good Society’ and what he said about freedom really resonated with my area of work.
“The freedom to act.
The freedom to do.
The freedom to live up to your potential.
A person without any resources really doesn’t have the freedom to act, do or live up to their potential.
They just do what they can to survive.
That’s not freedom.”
Joseph Stiglitz
The Economy and The Good Society
If we want a thriving ‘good society’ with ‘good people’ that thrive we’ve got to create the conditions for that.
It doesn’t happen by chance. It happens by designing an economy and a society which ensures people have the resources and support they need to thrive on their own terms.

This is the essence of what I call #ThriveThinking
If we want everyone to thrive in modern day Britain we need to understand what LIFE is like out there now for people, and what support vulnerable people need to thrive on their own terms.

Thanks for the likes and shares on this, means a lot. 🫶

It’s so sad to once again see the language being used by politicians when talking about the social security system / benefits.
It sets us back as a nation, as a society and as compassionate human beings.
‘Shirkers’ ‘a life on benefits’ ‘deadbeats’ just three terrible examples.
Look. I’m not saying the system is perfect. I’m not saying there aren’t examples of households in the UK solely reliant on benefits to survive. I’m not saying there aren’t people with disabilities or health issues who could find work which helps them to thrive on their own terms. Or that there aren’t Dad’s that need to step up and pay towards their kids wellbeing.
But let’s not lose sight of how difficult life can be for people. How the system often works against people, scaring them to the point where they just desperately hope they don’t lose the very basic financial stability they need to survive.
Then there’s the fact that vulnerability is a broad spectrum; issues like limited skills, a lack of opportunities, health inequalities and other factors getting in the way of thriving.
We’ve got to build the systems to help people be self-sufficient. Health. Education. Good work. Community safety. Support when life gets tough.
We’re all human beings. Some people don’t have it easy. It’s not always someone’s fault exclusively that life is tough for them. Humans fuck up. They make mistakes. They get ill. They might be disabled. We have different skills, abilities and experiences that shape our life. We’re all just trying to be OK, and survive this crazy journey called life.
Don’t hate. Don’t blame others. Love, kindness and compassion is what we need, along with a vision for a society with first class public services which provides the foundation for more of us to thrive.
It’s too easy to blame others. It is the people in power that need to step up.
Great to hear @campbellclaret and @RoryStewartUK interview @DoughnutEcon creator @KateRaworth

Love that @Keir_Starmer @UKLabour have pledged to set up a publicly-owned green energy company within a year if elected, with 100% clean power by 2030. Now we’re talking! Exciting policies which give stability, build resilience and offer hope. That’s #ThriveThinking in action 🌱
Income maximisation being taken seriously at policy level is something I’ve been fighting for
The @MoneyPensionsUK strategy for financial wellbeing is a great example of #ThriveThinking with a plan to help people achieve stability, build resilience and have hope for the future
But we need the focus to turn to STABILITY ⚓️ RESILIENCE 💪 and HOPE 🌈
#ThriveThinking 🌱 means focussing on WHAT PEOPLE NEED
When the focus is on thriving, we can then very simply design the mechanics of a system which is kind, compassionate and human
The UK social security system often fails the #ThriveThinking 🌱test
When people are left waiting for months, are not paid enough to live, are hit with overpayments, deductions or sanctions, are struggling to survive
It creates instability, erodes resilience and destroys hope
#ThriveThinking can be used personally
It can be applied to families
It must be utilised by leaders, governments, businesses and nations
Let’s create the conditions to help people and the planet thrive through stability ⚓️ resilience 💪 and hope 🌈
I want to create a #ThriveThinking community.
#ThriveThinking is about transcending traditional political, religious or personal feelings.
#ThriveThinking isn’t left, right or centre.
It’s simply about creating the conditions for stability ⚓️ resilience 💪 and hope 🌈
My #ThriveThinking 🌱 concept is about creating the conditions for EVERYONE to find a way to thrive on their own terms, as individuals but also together as humans connected to each other and the planet
The three key 🔑 conditions are
STABILITY ⚓️
RESILIENCE 💪
HOPE 🌈
Why do we write people off through categorisation? Unemployed or too sick to work… both might be true circumstances but every human deserves to get the support they need to find purpose in their life and a way to thrive on their own terms. #ThriveThinking
Mohammed Yunus said recently that categorising people as unemployed instead of enabling them to build businesses which could solve their problem, only serves to diminish their true potential. This is what our lending addresses.
We become what we think
I am a social entrepreneur. I am the founder & leader of @income_max. I am a husband. I am a father. I am an athlete. I am a tennis player. I am a gardener. I am a nature lover. I am kind. I am compassionate. I am creating a better world

Thoreau:
“To be a philosopher is not merely to have subtle thoughts, nor even to found a school…it is to solve some of the problems of life not only theoretically, but practically.”

@leehealey_ Lee - I feel this 100% not only from my personal experiences but as part of my mission of building #emotionalliteracy in men - acknowledging and recognising our feelings is a huge first step
Personal #thrivethinking alongside all the other elements you are so loud about 👊
My creative ideas have been nabbed more times than I care to remember. It used to upset me but now I design in the open and don’t worry about it. Better to be generous with your ideas, it’s much better for the soul ❤️ #ThriveThinking
Three things that help humans to #Thrive
Stability
Resilience
Opportunity
