On a project as complex as Tilenga, progress depends on how effectively multiple work fronts and systems come together.
As Offsites & Drilling Interfaces Area Lead on the #TilengaProject, Jesca Nampala coordinates critical interfaces that support drilling activities, including the delivery of flowlines comprising oil and water pipelines, power systems, and fibre-optic networks.
For Jesca, engineering is driven by a desire to solve problems and bring together many moving parts to support something bigger than any individual component.
“What motivates me most is looking at where we have come from and where we are going. Another motivation is being part of such a significant project for the country.”

Every well tells a story. Understanding it is where Merabu Malinga-Okui comes in.
As Senior Petrophysicist on the #TilengaProject, Merabu studies subsurface data to evaluate reservoir properties, insights that guide key decisions on the next stages of development and production.
Her path began in 2013 as a trainee wellsite geologist. Over a decade later, that same drive to understand what lies underground still shapes her work.
"We need to know what is underground. We need to know the properties of the reservoir and whether it can produce the oil that exists there."

“#TilengaProject is quite unique. In projects where I have worked before, we might drill one or two wells a month. Here, we are now drilling up to 5 wells a week,” says Simon Lott, Petrophysics & Fluids Manager.
Supporting a drilling programme of this scale requires accurate data, sound interpretation, and informed decision-making. Simon works with subsurface data to understand the properties of rocks and fluids, helping guide where wells are drilled, how they are completed, and how they will ultimately be produced.
With more than 30 years of industry experience, he also sees knowledge transfer as one of the most rewarding aspects of his role, helping develop the next generation of petrophysical professionals.

Equally inspiring was welcoming Hon. @DrMusenero to the #TilengaProject, where she toured key facilities & experienced firsthand the impact of our livelihood restoration programmes.

Beyond infrastructure and construction, the delegation witnessed first-hand how the #TilengaProject has supported Project Affected Persons.
At the home of one of the PAPs, Owormungu Phinas in Kyamandindi Village, Buliisa District, the team heard from various PAPS about how livelihood restoration programs are helping households build sustainable and resilient futures through agriculture, vocational training, business development, and financial literacy initiatives.

The Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, Hon. @DrMusenero, commended the significant progress made across the #TilengaProject and highlighted its potential to drive long-term socio-economic transformation.
She noted that while key infrastructure, wells, and pipelines are largely in place, the project's impact must extend beyond construction to creating sustainable opportunities for communities and workers through skills development, enterprise growth, and value creation across the broader oil and gas value chain.
“My expectation is that it will be permanently transformative. We must ensure that the people, businesses, and communities that have grown alongside this project continue to benefit and move forward long after construction is completed.”

“What motivates me is seeing the tangible results of the work we do and the impact it has on the people and communities we work with,” says Abarinda Jerusha, Project Engineer on the #TilengaProject.
Jerusha oversees infrastructure projects that support compensation activities, livelihood restoration, and community development across the #TilengaProject.
From the construction of resettlement houses, schools, and health facilities to water systems and other community infrastructure, she applies engineering expertise, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement to deliver projects that create lasting benefits for communities.
