A mural of the Baptism of Our Lord, painted by an Ethiopian hermit (ገዳማዊ፡) in the 16th century. He didn't want to sign his name, but he asks those who inherit his chapel to celebrate his memory! 🙏 Ethiopia, 16th c. #JesusChrist #johnthebaptist #timqet #mural #africanart

IN-PICTURE: #Timqet (Epiphany) was celebrated in Jan Meda, #AddisAbeba, with usual warmth, with holy water sprinkled on participants as is part of the tradition. But there were also other activities, including youth playing games. Some played trying to land a coin on target.

Green, yellow and red, which have become staple colours of the #Timqet celebration, were hung above streets in most parts of #AddisAbeba. The Timqet displays were also richer with elaborate designs of Tabots. https://t.co/5AB9KugE27

#Ethiopian Orthodox celebrate the #Epiphany, also called #Timqet. 👉 Epiphany or Timqet is #Ethiopia's most important religious holiday. It's the celebration of, at the same time the #baptism of #Jesus in the Jordan and the epiphany... https://t.co/ly0Ir6EEzC
