Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Archpriest Alexander Tkachenko, head of the Circle of Kindness foundation, in the Kremlin. The Kremlin press service reported this.
Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov noted that the foundation is successfully fulfilling its goals and is very popular. He also emphasized that the initiative to create the foundation came from the president himself.
The Circle of Kindness Foundation, established by decree of the head of state, provides assistance to children with severe, chronic, and orphan diseases. It serves as an additional tool for organizing and financing expensive treatments and providing medications and medical devices, including those unregistered in Russia. The foundation also assists in the acquisition of technical rehabilitation equipment not included in the federal list.

In fulfilling our primary goal of providing medications for children, we sought to unite society around them, engaging both patient and religious organizations, because we saw that parents' experiences and spiritual pain can be even greater than physical ones.
His Holiness Patriarch Kirill has always treated the issue of helping children with the deepest attention, care, and pastoral concern. And last year, he performed a true miracle: he presented an icon to the parents of seriously ill children. This icon of the Mother of God "The Healer" was historically housed in the Alekseevsky Convent in Moscow and has been venerated as miraculous since the 17th century. It depicts the Mother of God kneeling at the bedside of a sick boy.
His Holiness the Patriarch noted that when parents learn their child's diagnosis and prognosis, they experience the same depth of emotion and suffering that the Mother of God experienced when her son's birth and destiny were revealed to her. Therefore, by his decree, he ordered a special service to be compiled for children with serious illnesses, their parents, and their doctors. And on October 1st, every year, a special prayer of fervent devotion for this purpose is and will be offered in all churches of the Russian Orthodox Church. With this decision, His Holiness the Patriarch supported your decree establishing the Circle of Goodness Foundation and noted the importance of the Foundation's work.
