Relentless #rainfall in the #Sahyadri #Ghat section of the #Ulhas basin, which has seen over 400mm, in the last 24 hours, caused the Ulhas #River to swell to 17.49 meters around 6 a.m., just shy of the danger mark of 17.5 meters. Fortunately, the water level has since receded to 17.22 meters by 9 a.m.
Current Situation and Outlook
While some low-lying areas may experience water accumulation, the receding water level indicates the situation is currently under control and major flooding is not expected. This highlights the crucial role of the Sahyadri Ghats in the Ulhas basin's hydrology and the rapid response of the river to heavy precipitation.

Continuous and intense #rainfall has been recorded in the #Sahyadri #Ghat section of the #Ulhas basin, affecting the #Lonavala, #Khandala, #Bhimashankar, and #Matheran ranges . Since the heavy spell began 18 hours ago, these regions have received over 300 mm of #rain till 2am.
Current Situation
The Ulhas #River has now surpassed the #warning level of 16.5 meters, with its #water level currently at 16.86 meters.
#Forecast and #Alert
If the #ghat sections receive an additional #HeavyRains in the coming hours, the river may cross the #danger mark by early morning.
As a result, residents in low-lying areas from #Karjat, #Neral, and #Badlapur to #Ulhasnagar, #Shahad, and #Kalyan should remain on high alert.

Heavy #rainfall exceeding 200 mm (a "double century") has been recorded in the #SahyadriGhat section of the #Ulhas basin over the past 14 hours. Consequently, the water level of the Ulhas #River at #Badlapur has risen to 16.22 meters as of 10 p.m. tonight, nearing the warning level of 16.5 meters.
The rise in the #UlhasRiver's water level was exacerbated by combination of #Rain & the high tide, which peaked around 9:30 p.m. Now that the tide is receding, with the next low tide expected between 3 and 4 a.m., the river's water level is not anticipated to increase. Even with a slight increase in water level, the situation is not yet a cause for concern. The Ulhas River's water level is still approximately one meter below the danger mark of 17.5 meters, providing a safe buffer.

As mentioned, due to #hightide sea is not accepting water
So despite less rain, water continues to rise in the #Ulhas #river.
Currently, the river is flowing at 18.7 mtrs. Low-lying areas may experience a slight increase due to this.
#KonkanWeather #BadlapurRains #mumbairains

Rains have reduce considerably after 8.30am.
#Badlapur 42mm from 8.30am to 1pm till now..
Also not continues heavy like last night.
But as #hightide at 2.47pm today so it will take time for water to reduce.
#Ulhas river on 18.2 mtr means has cross the bank
