@joanncorley FYI, @ausmalik gave the inspiring career-and-life-achievements keynote speech at last Saturday's #UofTNextSteps conference (to recent graduates).
At the #uoftnextsteps networking session, had a chance to chat with (new Twittermate!) inspiring @ausmalik. She asked me whether I'd first "met" anyone there (esp. the #alumniambassadors) through Twitter (or social media). Paul (@UinvitedU) fits that bill. Great to talk to both!
Really cool thing about @ausmalik is how she doesn’t just do, she shares about what she’s learned.
Loving her #UofTNextSteps talk?
After launching successful podcast for @AtkinsonCF she gave this great talk for @maytree_canada https://t.co/orgDNotpk6 on starting a podcast.

Walked through the Toronto snowstorm yesterday to have conversations with University of Toronto students about their future plans. One student had such shining eyes as she talked about her dreams, I saw myself in her. #UofTNextSteps
Great energy at the #UofTNextSteps conference! Wonderful turn out despite the snowstorm. Always a pleasure to meet students & alumni mentors. Quite often I'll hear something that inspires an idea for a new story or character📚

I spoke with not just students today at #UofTNextSteps but also asked @uoftalumni why they trudged through snowstorm to volunteer as mentors.
I was SO happy to not just hear usual tropes about “giving back” but return to @UofT campus to find hope in helping & to keep learning!

Congratulations Heather Kelly, ED of @UofTStudentLife on another successful and valuable #UofTNextSteps gathering!
To fellow @uoftalumni take a look at this gathering https://t.co/nBw6trqVi6 and other ways to give back at @UofT https://t.co/O6KurMVhrr

Congratulations Julia Knapp of @uoftalumni and the @UofTStudentLife team on another well attended and successful #UofTNextSteps gathering! https://t.co/nBw6trqVi6

Well well a @canadahelps alumni!
Mike Henry of @BGCC_CEO tenure years, here at #UofTNextSteps now working at @uoftalumni & Advancement office
Lovely to chat about being part of something so special.

Advice:
1. Pay attn to the people "at the door" of an org/office (receptionist/EA). Do they appear happy/content & friendly? Speaks to overall corporate culture & values.
2. During interview(s), formulate thoughtful ?s (when asked) & see if it's right place for YOU #uoftnextsteps
Excited to be a part of this! Lots to learn and share. I'd love to hear: What was the best advice you got when starting out in the world of work? #nextsteps
Thanks @sakhmeth! Love that openness and curiosity. I'm sure you have some amazing stories! @UofTArtSci #uoftnextsteps
@ausmalik My first boss told me to take advantage of all of the opportunities that are open to me. Volunteering, working groups, networking, continuing education. Everything. Ten years later, I am so glad I took his advice.
@ausmalik That's great Ausma! My tip for young people getting started is to do your research. Find out as much as you can about the organizations in the sector you would like to enter, and if possible attend related events/presentations to see their staff in action
Great way to spend a snowy Saturday - offering U of T grads career advice with alumni co-panelists @mdavis401 @ushashan43 @nickdegroot1 #uoftnextsteps

Excited to be a panelist on Unviersity of Toronto Next Steps career panel. Talking about my favourite topics ...teaching, education and naturopathic medicine. @myccnm @OANDorg @AANMC @uoftalumni #uoftnextsteps
