Verifiable Delay Functions (#VDFs) ensure security through the following properties:
▪️ Correctness
▪️ Soundness
▪️ Sequentiality
In essence, correctness ensures that correct outputs always pass verification, and soundness ensures that invalid outputs never pass verification. Finally, sequentiality implies that no adversary, even with more computational power and parallel processor, could compute the VDF faster than honest participants.

Verifiable Delay Functions (#VDFs) have various applications, including constructing random beacons, and have become an active #cryptography research area.📑
VDFs are functions that require a number of sequential steps to compute, and even adversaries with improved computation power and parallel processors cannot compute the function more quickly than others. In addition, it allows quick verification of the output's correctness. ✔️
However, not all functions that meet these criteria qualify as VDFs.
