Ten years since the #virtualirrigation tools were introduced in Africa (Malawi & Tanzania), today the tools finally made their debut in Uganda. Supported by trainers from Malawi, researchers & extension workers from #NARO & #MAAIF, elite farmers have installed the moisture & nutrient monitoring tools in their fields in Mobuku Irrigation Scheme in Kasese district, Uganda. The tools include: the Chameleon field readers, wetting front (full stop) detectors, Nitrate strips & the Chameleon EC Meter. Tomorrow, participants in this training will return to the fields & take the first data from the tools. This marks the beginning of a journey to scale out modern irrigation tools in Uganda. The initiative is promoted by @ASARECA, @MAAIF_Uganda under the #WorldBank supported AICCRA project.
