His Excellency President Julius Maas Bio today received a delegation led by the Regional Director of @CatholicRelief Service, West Africa, Jennifer Overton and the Regional Managing Director for @nature_org, Ademola Ajagba, at the State House in #Freetown.
The delegation was at the State House to update @PresidentBio on both Agencies' plans towards launching the Water Fund project - an initiative aimed at increasing the investment in the preservation of water, salvaging humanity and protecting the ecosystem against the harmful impact of #climatechange and poor #sanitation.
His Excellency had last year received a Report from the Committee created to investigate the encroachment of the #Greenbelt and Forest Reserve in the Western Area.
The delegation requested for Government’s support for the implementation of the recommendations in the Report, among other things.
The Water Fund will work in partnership with the Government of #SierraLeone to ensure the preservation and supply of potable #water to the country.
His Excellency, on his part, thanked them and assured the delegation of the Government’s readiness to provide the necessary support in actualising the vision of the Water Fund.

Last night, water fund staff & partners from Kenya, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, Ghana, South Africa, Malawi, India, USA, Colombia and beyond arrived in Sagana, Kenya and kicked off a training to help overcome obstacles and regain momentum in the journey to progress water funds.
Catchment protection is paying off!
