Saw a story on my timeline and decided to brew some tea, relax and then read. The story then vanished and was replaced with another. Auntie Julie did not mince words yet…

Fellow Ghanaians, we have no answers!

This important engagement will focus on how they can collectively harness the immense potential of the Volta Economic Corridor to support the successful take-off of the government’s 24-hour economic policy.

#WeareAllinvolved ‼️‼️
We have a profound and legitimate cause for concern about the state of our nation’s governance, particularly from those who once built their reputations on criticizing the previous administration’s every move.
This morning, I watched in utter disbelief a clip from an interview granted by our Foreign Minister on Channel One TV. The topic was a deeply troubling one: the justification for Ghana’s agreement to host deportees from the United States without the crucial step of parliamentary ratification. We must remember that in this role, he represents the entire nation, not his personal convictions.
This is not without precedent. About a decade ago, the nation woke to the shocking news that terrorists, infamously known as the Gitmo Three, had been granted refuge on our soil—a move that bypassed our strict laws and parliamentary procedures. The matter was rightly taken to court, and the ruling was unequivocally clear: such weighty international agreements must be discussed, vetted, and approved by Parliament.
Today, the Foreign Minister, who consistently lashed out at the previous government for virtually everything, finds himself in the firm, unyielding chokehold of Lady Karma. She has him in her grip! He is now backtracking on major issues he once championed in opposition, from the rationale for a state-owned private jet to, now, the very principles of democratic accountability.
Returning to this pressing matter, the Honourable Minister’s justifications, as seen in the video, are as flimsy as they are frightening:
1. He claims he “met several MOUs” at his ministry, implying this pre-existing paperwork is a sufficient reason to sign yet another—a classic case of bureaucratic inertia trumping principle.
2. He asserts that he and the Attorney General, through Cabinet, conferred with the U.S. Attorney General, who allegedly “said there was nothing wrong with it.” The least we deserve is an explanation from the AG.
If these two reasons—finding old documents and receiving a foreign official’s blessing—are enough for our nation’s laws to be discarded on a whim, then I fear for what truly lies ahead. This sets a dangerous precedent where executive convenience overrides constitutional duty and parliamentary oversight.
May God have mercy on us all.

The President’s response to the galamsey menace when he met the Press is heartbreaking. The 8 have died in vain. No resolve,no commitment.
