#week1tech252 Re: Groff, J. I like The 8 steps of motivation, but exercising it in the classroom is harder. I think of times when I tried to motivate students and realize that maybe one of these items was missing; but how can you maintain these steps consistently for 30 students?

I believe divergent thinking must be the main focus of the education system in order to support different and varying intelligences. Without this, we marginalize large groups of individuals that don’t fit into the category society defines as “smart”. #week1tech252

When students experience positive emotions, they are motivated and long-term recall improves. However, I do believe that written tests inflict negative emotions on students. Are there other ways to assess learning that do not detriment a students’ learning capacity? #week1tech252

A characteristic that many students feel they lose as they progress through their school years is creativity. The ability to use creativity as a medium is defined as adaptive expertise. How can teachers allow students to develop their creativity rather than shun it? #week1tech252

Great point made that educators need to incorporate ALL 7 principles of learning. Given that most new Ontario teachers supply for several years, I wonder how to work toward incorporating these principals as a supply teacher, working with different students each day. #week1tech252
