#MythologyMonday The heartbreaking Welsh legend of Gelert 🐕💔 – the ultimate loyal hound. #WelshFolklore 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 #Galert #CanineHero Prince Llywelyn the Great's prized deerhound (gift from King John) guarded his infant son. Returning from hunt, Llywelyn found cradle overturned, blood everywhere, Gelert's jaws red. In anguish, he slew his dog—then found the baby safe beneath the cradle, beside a slain wolf Gelert had killed to protect him. 🐺 Stricken with remorse, Llywelyn buried Gelert honorably.
