Cool tip: try to gather #WheatStarchPaste in circular movements with the bamboo spoon to get as much paste in one go. This avoids spreading WSP to the edges of the sieve (which can be hard to clean) and you will look like a pro! π

Welcome to #WSPasteMonday! The first step to prepare #WheatStarchPaste (WSP) in the @BLQatar conservation studio is to weigh wheat starch powder and leave it soaking in cool water. After a couple of days the water is removed and new cool water is added.
#WheatStarchPaste (WSP) is an adhesive used in paper & book conservation. It comes from wheat flour, but gluten is extracted & only the starch granules remain in the adhesive. Some qualities of WSP are: good adhesion, flexibility & reversibility. (2/3)

Paste on to melinex so the repair can be adjusted. You can use a light box. I tend to leave the repair a minute or so to let the paste settle in and the paper to relax. #WheatStarchPaste #PaperConservation
