I've tweeted that I like to watch the South African Rand #ZARUSD when looking for clues in future direction in #Gold. A close of .05541 would help in a bottom in ZAR. There's a hourly gap in $DXY at 113.26 that may or may not get filled. #Silver #preciousmetals $GDX #XAUUSD $GLD

7/x For #ZAR to go above 19.29, something seriously has to go wrong in SA or in the world economy and for $USD to surge higher. O/c possible, but contrary to media, unlikely IMO. $USD #ZARUSD #ZAR #RAND

6/x i.e. R18 is a good price to get for selling #dollars . R19.29 is a great price. But to wait for the additional R1.29 might cost you dearly. I don't believe in squeezing the last bit out of a trade. It does not make Risk/Reward sense. $USD #ZARUSD #ZAR #RAND

4/x Fundamentally (probably more important), I think stuff is starting to break in DM. Look at #BOE (not) QE yesterday. UK Gilt liquidity completely evaporated. 👇 I don't think this aggressive CB tightening can carry on for much longer. $USD #ZARUSD #ZAR #RAND

This chart shows how strongly correlated the #ZARUSD is to commodities. Note divergence between (a) & (b). Either the ZAR is set to strengthen much more, OR there's a huge risk premium being built into the ZAR, having strengthened far less than you'd expect in a commodities boom.
