#papermache is a handicraft famous in Patna, Saraikella, Hazaribagh, Murhu, Ranchi & Madhubani. Masks for Chau dance is the main item made since generations in families, but only by the dancer. Decorative items like bird figures are also made.

Earlier prepared from old clothes, mainly by mothers to give a comfortable, soft cover to her baby. It comprised of two or three layers of old cloth stitched with a needle.
