I feel bad for my app @hatchplay.
It’s a side project that is always pushed aside.
Possible solutions:
- #buildinpublic
- work on it everyday
- connect with #gamedev and #indiedev communities
Hoping to finish the year strong with a completed app.
Want to make a game?
I do. Lots of games. But making one is a lot of work. Spending time learning a game engine and coding on it is less interesting than working on the meaningful play of the game.
Been a year since I last worked on #hatchplay; hopefully not too much code rot.
Running into problems with #vs4mac while migrating to #dotnetmaui for my #xamarinios app. Primarily the IDE just freezes when trying to deploy to a device
Hey! It's good to be back... where did I leave off - oh! that's right, I got a Mac mini M1 and wanted to get my project to work on it. Glad I let 4 months go by without trying to get it to work - maybe this will be painless?
Rough transition to Mac mini M1 - getting a “net6.0-ios” can’t be referenced by Xamarin.iOS,Version=1.0 error. Maybe now is time to migrate to .NET MAUI? #dotnetmaui#Xamarin#macOS
Update for 4/26
- Continuing to refactor internals of engine to allow for a better editor experience
- Reaching out to the #community to spread awareness about HatchPlay
- yak shaving
When I explain what HatchPlay is, most people think it's dumb.
"It's an app where you can create interactive content. Use your photos for backgrounds or on shapes you can tap and things happen."
I'm should probably work on that.
#buildinpublic#Marketing#mobileapp
Update for 4/19:
- Had difficulty fixing bugs in HatchPlay editor
- Refactoring internals of HatchPlay engine to separate file format from engine object model
- will allow easier testing / refactoring for editor
#buildinginpublic#mobileapp#mobileappdevelopment
@IATobi I'm using Xamarin/C# for cross platform mobile app and https://t.co/eOHpIKJrvG for the web backend with a SQL Server database.
Adding a developer wouldn't increase productivity for me because I wouldn't be available enough to communicate vision/answer questions.
Turns out I couldn't resist the #temptation to rewrite the internals of HatchPlay.
Primary reason is to separate the file format from the implementation.
My #softwaredevelopment approach as change a lot over the years, I guess.
Update for 4/11:
- To date, I have #mobileapp that I can list, edit, and play individual #digital#experiences
- The original intent was to #create#mobile#games for your #phone on your #phone, but you can create anything really
- This week, I'l focus on the editor interface
