Your MP might also be keen to know how HMRC are by-passing the Morse recommendations as adopted by Parliament.

HMRC are now issuing more s.684(7A)(b) letters to individuals for precisely those same years which Morse removed from the loan charge.
i.e. those cases where Morse thought retrospection was unjustified, HMRC now say retrospection is appropriate.

The Morse Review said that 20-year retrospection was unjustified.
Morse recommended retrospection of 8.5 years. (Principle was correct but mistaken on the facts but let’s ignore that for the moment.)

Yes Freedom of Information requests show that @HMRCgovuk have IGNORED the Morse "independent" #LoanChargeScandal review over 3000 times recently on pre 2010 cases

And still issuing more EVEN NOW

These cases are no longer covered by the #LoanCharge but, despite the one positive thing Morse did in the "independent" #LoanChargeScandal review to say these should be closed because the law was unclear, SEVEN YEARS LATER @HMRCgovuk are issuing these demands out RIGHT NOW

And bear in mind that a S684 is #HMRC making a NEW DECISION NOW on cases going back 14-20 YEARS AGO!

What "new information" can they possibly have got so long after the event - it is another #HMRC LIE

They cannot even follow the direction of the review they interfered with - no wonder TEN have died so far
