@elonmusk How do they stop you from doing it? Once someone has one of your starlink devices how can the Gov prevent the use of it @elonmusk, isn’t it satellite direct to device? Are they just not allowing the sale of the devices in SA?
Hi @keithmgordon thank you as always for your incredible support. If Parliament adopted the Morse recommendations then isn’t this latest antics from hmrc null and void? Wonder if @JimHarraHMRC can add some clarity too, since he works for all of us…? @RishiSunak
If you have received a s.684(7A)(b) letter you are strongly advised to get urgent legal advice.
Your MP might also be keen to know how HMRC are by-passing the Morse recommendations as adopted by Parliament.

HMRC are now issuing more s.684(7A)(b) letters to individuals for precisely those same years which Morse removed from the loan charge.
i.e. those cases where Morse thought retrospection was unjustified, HMRC now say retrospection is appropriate.

The loan charge originally went back 20 years.
The Morse Review said that 20-year retrospection was unjustified.
Morse recommended retrospection of 8.5 years. (Principle was correct but mistaken on the facts but let’s ignore that for the moment.)

Given the medium, this will inevitably be concise. If anything is unclear, I (or others) shall try to elucidate.
This is an urgent set of tweets concerning ITEPA 2003, s.684(7A)(b).

@JimHarraHMRC has been a complete coward, hands soaked in blood. And his predecessor was even worse; been knighted when he moved on tail between his legs. Carol you should look into jon thompson as well, previous boss of that organisation!
I'm reading up about #LoanChargeScandal and have spoken at length to @keithmgordon t@keithmgordon this week....
It's disgraceful that innocent individuals have been pursued, resulting in multiple suicides, and the companies escaped with truly obscene profits.
Think Post Office and it's not far off.
Somewhat delayed (my apologies - it's all down to me) but LBC have kindly let me share the recording of my conversation last Sunday with @carolvorders about the loan charge. https://t.co/4fgsgHw1Ip
These are strong criticisms made against HMRC.
Such conduct (if carried out by taxpayers or their advisers) would not be tolerated by HMRC (and rightly so).
It behoves HMRC either to:
1) disprove the allegations or
2) make some very profuse apologies to Parliament.
A powerful segment on @BBCRadio4 on the #LoanChargeScandal, explaining the unfairness that #HMRC failed to deduct tax from agencies/umbrella companies & invented the #LoanCharge to instead go after workers who had been assured of compliance. There have been 10 #LoanChargeSuicides
ALERT: Our 7pm phone-in subject is the #LoanCharge, which I believe is as big a scandal as the Post Office. And this time it's HMRC that are the guilty party.
If you're a victim of the Loan Charge scandal do tune in and also phone-in. Your voices need to be heard.
PLS RT
When @ITV write up the next govt scandal, this time on the loan charge, @iaindale@gregwrightYP@EmmaAgyemang & @NickFerrariLBC should be immortalised as some of the journalists who've been calling out the govt for years on this.
