Ale & Axes Arena

We've been working on bringing the next major feature to Ale & Axes: player versus player. 🤺

We all know that directly competing against other players brings major fun, so let's take a look at how this works in Ale & Axes Arena:

1. The arena ⚔️
Accessible through the town map, and after clicking on it, a Pop-Up opens. Here you can:

- See your rating
- See the quantity of a new item you have 👀
- Set up your Defense Squad
- The progress on bonus loot
- Activate wager mode
- Find/start a battle, aka attacking

2. Defense Squad 🛡️
Each player is required to set up at least 1 Defense Squad to participate in the Arena. Wins with your Defense Squad result in a bonus modifier, which gives you more rewards on attacks!

Each player is allowed to have up to 5 Defense Squads.

3. Defending 🛡️
Defending with your Defense Squads is a passive activity, as you can only actively ATTACK other players. This results in a unique system where only the attacker has to be online, similar to attacking in Clash of Clans.

4. Attacking 🤺
After clicking "Battle", you are matched with a player in your rating range. Squads and their Gearscores are equalized to make sure skill is what it takes to take down your enemy.

To make attacking interesting, we are working with a Fog of War concept, which reveals details of the defending Squad turn after turn. You start seeing a single Defender and have to make your first Adventurer pick based on that. After that?

Well, you have to figure that out yourself 😏

5. Glory
Become the highest rated player in Teya and become the Champion of the Arena!

All Adventurers can be accessed in PvP, even if they are actively raiding in PvE. Adventurers used in Defense Squads can still be used to attack other players!

Had lots of discussions since my tweet yesterday about the comparison between King & Queen from Clash of Clans to our @TavernStudios NFT Adventurers.

I realized there is an even better comparison because our NFT Adventurers do not provide an in-game power boost, which was important for us regarding game balancing and making sure F2P players would still be able to compete.

In this overview, we compare our Adventurers to the builder huts in Clash of Clans, which you buy for real money and which also give you some ingame advantages.

Next week I will touch base on what our game could do for the Cardano treasury 👀👀👀

Our NFT collection for @TavernStudios is sitting at a 27 ADA floor, and you might be wondering where the value for these NFTs would ever come from.

I'll invite you to an experiment, ask ChatGPT this:
If the King and Queen in Clash of Clans were NFTs and limited to 20,000 NFTs each, would their in-game impact make them highly valuable?

Ale & Axes will become Free 2 Play, and our NFT collection can be compared to King and Queen within Clash of Clans. In fact, I even referred to the King and Queen to our team over and over again. The above prompt was about 40k NFTs; we got 10k. Now you can do the math 😏

There is still a lot for us to accomplish, but the main challenge is onboarding new players, who stick around because they enjoy our game.
