@SaltyScorpon@PiotrSzut First of all, many jobs are support functions, needed but not revenue-generating - accounting, legal, IT sec, HR... Second, as with all prices there is marginal utility - the utility of going from 0 to 1 accountants is much greater than from 15 to 16 so it's never x per headcount
@proverbs_14_23 Lmao at all the people going "damned 3rd worlders with their daylight-resembling lamps, obviously the civilized choice is to make it look like you're still using fire" 😂 It's okay to have a preference but the superiority complex is hilarious. Daylight is 5700k, deal with it.
@o0owhitewolfo0o@proverbs_14_23@eplurubusnullus Daylight is "blue" by Western lighting standards, 5700k in lightbulb terms. So it just makes you feel like the sun is still up and you're not living in a dark cave, probably not good for sleeping but otherwise I don't see the problem.
@suelohan_@KirkegaardEmil Where did I say it doesn't? All I'm saying is that this calculation is useless because there is a very obvious confounding variable, we cannot know how much of the difference is genetic.
@suelohan_@KirkegaardEmil I'm starting to question the IQ of people in this space. The schools are not as good bc in a typical 3rd world school there are zero teachers we would consider qualified, most have barely graduated HS. It's hard to learn English from somebody who can barely speak it thenselves.
@TheReinGuy@tobiaschneider Basically, all that strengthening and supplements and skills change is how "long" a long downhill section needs to be to be an issue, it does not change the underlying problem of it being my weak point.
@TheReinGuy@tobiaschneider I know this well, but no matter how much I improve at it, it still lags behind my ascent skills. I can do many days of 1500m+ steep ascents but descending at the same pace in the same terrain would leave me unable to kneel within two days.
@Rdog9696@0xAngler Temporarily, yes. Long term though we are sitting on some of the most fertile land in the world, fertility elsewhere is falling so fast that our famously-bad-but-fairly-stable rates are starting to look good in comparison, and we will always have tourism income to fall back on.
@IJoukov@realandrerlopes You missed the label "Anarchist supply chains, explained:". The whole picture presupposes a state of anarchy. Which to be fair to them does not have to mean a total collapse of (local) society, but definitely precludes having a megacorp deliver you fertilizer from overseas
@popageing@Smirkley The range goes higher than 40 both in Russia and in Ukraine, unlike historical states they have been deliberately avoiding putting the burden on young adult men because they are in a demographic crisis and don't want to deepen it
@IJoukov@realandrerlopes Not under anarchy you don't. All of this stuff is either a government service or product of large-scale industry with a complex and often international supply chain.
@debbie_mulgrew@BirthGauge The West never had 100% of women being mothers though, there was no shortage of nuns and spinsters in bygone days and of course some women are just infertile. So in reality the TFR is down due to both metrics being below historical norms.
