When designing a game, difficulty should not be confused with bad design choices. The player should feel his skills grow with the possibilities of the game, not despite of the game.
As game designers, criticism is important. Just because we tried our best doesn't mean the result must be good and accepted as such. Blaming players for a failure just blocks our capacity to be better designers.
