The mayor had publicly promised that grocery chains “would not be allowed” to abandon communities.

Amazon closed anyway.
This isn’t just about groceries. It’s about what happens when a city makes itself too expensive, too hostile, and too unpredictable for the very businesses that power it.
Amazon didn’t fail Seattle.
Seattle’s leadership failed Seattle.
