Jesus bore that pain and punishment for us. It wasn't an example for us to bear limitless pain ourselves, but to recognize the tremendous sacrifice He was making.
Righteous anger exists. Jesus gave an example of it with the turning over of the tables. A slap for uncouth behavior is a minimal response. No harm was done beyond reddening of a cheek and bruised ego. The parents should have dragged their son out of the water and spanked him in front of God and everyone. I know I would have.

If she had done more violence than a simple slap, there might be a case for it being beyond the pale, but this is not it.

Government isn't charity. It's redistribution of stolen money and assets. Let actual charities handle the poor, and/or let individuals be charitable.
