I don't begrudge any coach for doing anything he or she can in order to add a player who can help them win.

I don't begrudge any player for using the legal system to try to get eligible.

I don't begrudge lawyers for taking their cases (and commissions).

I don't begrudge the NCAA for defending its rules in court.

The idea that one category of people should fight their fight while others should stand down for the greater good just doesn't resonate with me. That's what the legal system is for. If you're tired of the chaos and confusion, my recommendation is to stop trying to follow it and wait for the games to start.

This is all happening because for decades the leaders in college sports tried to hold up a system that was illogical, illegal and immoral. They could have seen this coming and made the proper adjustments. Instead, the house of cards came crashing down. As well it should have.

What's going on right now is unfortunate, but it is vastly superior to the system it is replacing, whereby college athletes were denied their legal rights to monetize their talents.

College sports is not experiencing a crisis. It's experiencing a disruption. There's an important difference. We've got a ways to go — probably years — but eventually the dust will settle (somewhat, I hope, unless it doesn't).
