Blake Corum flying through the off tackle reaction drill shows why the 40-yard dash doesn’t mean everything for a running back.
MarShawn Lloyd had the faster 40 time but Corum is much better in a drill showing reaction time, cut ability and elusiveness.
Be a BadAss Running Back:
1) Finish every rep…Score every practice rep
2) Never lose the battle of leverage…Pad level is a choice
3) Be a “violent runner”…Defensive players look to avoid violent runners
4) Love Pass Protection!!! Be violent and finish and win first punch
5) Develop into a great route runner with incredible hands ( it is a learned and controlled skill set)
6) Earn touches by “making plays”…Making plays means always getting more yardage than what is blocked. Never let me freeze game film and know that I “ the old man coach” could have got as many yards as you
7) Trust your eyes and be decisive…Your never wrong if your decisive
8) Learn and master OL blocking schemes…By understanding what their jobs are you will be better able to master your job
9) Use the off season to become “ durable” by becoming the strongest, most flexible, fastest human you can make yourself
Down 4-0 going into the 3rd period of the 1st and 2nd place match. This kid showed heart and pinned his opponent to take 1st place. Headed to state in 2 weeks. Way to go kid!
