@mathsmrgordon I remember you sharing (ages ago) a Powerpoint on using tiles for negative numbers which had a lot of work on zero pairs in it. Might you be able to share it again please?
Open Evening was brilliant, but what you’re all dying to know, naturally, is the result of the maths experiment.
Well, there were 967 sweets in the jar.
We had 123 estimates, ranging from 150 to 5000, but the mean was...
[drumroll please]
971
We are astonished!

Triangles organized according to their angles (every 10°).
Point (x,y) corresponds to the triangle with x° and y° angles. Size varies just for fun. #mathGIF with @geogebra
If you draw lines between the centers of adjacent faces on a polyhedron, the shape you're left with is the original shape's "dual." The dual of each Platonic solid is another Platonic solid. The tetrahedron is its own dual!
@mathsjem I look at some of those old textbooks, and think:
1/ These people really cared about what they were doing, and
2/ What they weren't doing was writing exam preparation material for an exam board which would require a different text book in a couple of years.
