Yes, there is reference to vice and other things society shuns. But the simple fact they exist means they’re valid topics worthy of being artistically represented. Violence, lust and addiction are human attributes not outer body things that happen to us.
It is true rap is less popular among the masses, for a myriad of reasons. But to denigrate its impact or value is disingenuous. Rap is the pure manifestation of everything America is. Kill or be killed, scale the castle walls, make your own empire. The world is yours
was the orientation of the globe a decision? same way east and west is relative, so is north and south. all those images from space were taken right way up, but surely that doesn't really exist? few
People that are down on their luck aren’t necessarily good people. Foolish to equate the two. Far beneath mere mortals to know and judge but it feels like we all get what we deserve ultimately. Not in moral terms but for the games we play
A lot of people on here speak God and I wonder what they mean. Is it to a certain creed or an all-encompassing, esoteric and intuitive God? Because the former feels simpler to contend with the latter feels closer to my soul
@thedulab This is something people either get with age and hindsight or great pattern recognition and inner work. Calibrating your brain to seek gratitude. I’m much obliged
You get whatever you ask for, so choose wisely. The problem with that is a lot of us have myopic vision. So you must see wider and deeper and more intuitively so you can know what to ask for. What the gut wants, not what is expected.
Really dislike the most popular brand of sketch comedy being “it’s cringe when people express any genuine sentiment, because someone else before may have experienced the same thing.” Might be more socially toxic than Woke ever was. The premise is that enjoying things for their own sake is shameful because it might define you as a Type of Guy, so in order to have any genuine emotion you have to couch it in irony to avoid the vulnerability of existing in a continuous sense. Instead of liking a song and thus worrying about how that reflects on you, you inhabit a character that’s The Type of Guy Who Likes That Song for a few minutes. It’s not you, it’s someone else. You’ve never experienced an emotion, except for irreverence and computer-mediated reflexive derision for those who do. We should throw rotting fruit at “sketch comedians” (who do nothing but iterate out the last few cracks of real human experience) in the streets, as the Romans once did to actors and other undesirables
We should never have to fight; deescalation should be part of everyone’s repertoire, because for most of us there’s just too much at risk. But when do, it should be extreme, convoluted and quick.
Boxing removes most tools and feels fake comparably. Two adults jestermaxxing for cash, trying to make it entertaining. WWE might actually be more honest. Yes, people sustain serious injuries and there are terrible consequences I don’t want to downplay.
Real fighting is extremely violent and to the death. You must use every deceitful and dishonourable action that gives an advantage. Use overwhelming force to neutralise an opponent that seeks to harm you. It is not a good thing, it is a harsh reality of the living experience.
