@susie_dent@hayfestival Sepulchre - only ever saw it in Edgar Allen Poe’s poem ‘Annabel Lee’. To this day I have a family friend call me ‘Se-pulture’ (rhymes with vulture).
I was so proud to be part of this campaign in my previous role! Well done to Andrew Carpenter @FACAAus@TeamCarlyCRF and GTF ❤️

It is with a heavy heart we confirm the deaths of Constable Matthew Arnold and Constable Rachel McCrow.
Their lives were cut tragically short in the line of duty at Wieambilla yesterday.
With Honour They Served.
Australia should be the safest place in the world to go online. But because we let industry write their own rules, we’re failing to create a safe digital world for young Australians. And the public overwhelmingly want a different approach. Our new report:
🧵 1/8
Detective Inspector Jon Rouse is retiring after almost 40 years. People like you give us hope for a better, brighter future. Your dedication to saving children globally is immeasurable Jon. You inspire all of us, we simply adore you and thank you for your many years of service 🤍
Reading the "minor attracted persons" scholarship including the repeated claim that paedophiles are no more of a risk to children than any other adult. And apparently it's "stigmatising" to say otherwise. Truly bizarre and alarming stuff being normalised in that literature.
So in addition to everything else they have, is it now also a responsibility on young people to educate older generations and onboard them to progressive ideas, in the hope that effects real change? 🤔
That’s a wrap of Day 1 at #sunrise2022. So much passion and desire to do good from young people, it awesome! A bit of talk about effecting structural change through votes but here’s my thoughts 👇
By sheer numbers, the voices of young people will be drowned out by baby boomers. Demographically, there are more of them. Also, if the young person vote is progressive then a 2 party preferred system would never support changes for their better inclusion.
Saw the world premiere of The Giants at #AFF2022 last night and Bob Brown’s response to an audience question had me thinking about something I’d heard on the @TPpodcast_ History of Ideas. It was a wonderful convergence for me, & the film was incredible, thank you @AdlFilmFest!
Australia’s willingness to finally reckon with the horrific toll of child sexual abuse and neglect was only possible because of the tireless advocacy of victims, survivors and their families. That is why we have put their voices at the centre of our response to child sex abuse.
This is great news! With the bulk of MindGeek based in Canada, our government should take it more seriously. We need to pass Bill S-210 Protecting Young Persons from Exposure to Pornography Act. @mivillej@LailaMickelwait
This Child Protection Week we are having a community conversation about child sexual exploitation, how it’s defined, how to identify it and how to respond to it,
Tuesday 6 September from 6.30pm to 8.00pm.
