The difference in the cultural motivation behind #MGM, #FGM, and forced #intersex surgery explained really clearly. All are a gross violation of #HumanRights against a child, but activism purposes it’s important to understand how their cultural use is different.
“It’s gonna be DIRTY” = I’m not going to properly teach my son how to wash himself.
“It’ll get INFECTED!!” = I’m not going to teach my son how to wash himself.
“I don’t like the way they look so I don’t want my son to have one” = I want my son to have a penis I deem attractive.
Everyone: @AOC is selling a "tax the rich" sweatshirt for $58! That's way too expensive.
Me, a former mass market apparel designer: Made in America. Union printed. Sounds about right. That's what it costs to pay everyone a decent wage along the way.
#TaxTheRich
A million men who wish they had not been ritually or routinely circumcised in infancy or childhood > a hundred million men who are glad they were.
In terms of ethics and human rights, this should be evident and clear. One can always get circumcised, but can’t undo circumcision.
@EuphorbiaZ@StanleyCohenLaw Shouldn't #circumcision be the baby's choice, when he becomes an adult? If not, why not? Further, everyone always has the choice to depart from any pattern of behavior aka routine. No western pediatric agency/authority recommends circumcision outside of USA.
instead of slowly banning child genital mutilation based on the sex of the child, why don't we just outright ban it all together in one law. but people like to do shit the hard way and harm their son for cosmetic purposes
