2 years ago we said our final goodbyes.
We had a conversation a few months before about what you would wear to your next dance. A red button up shirt, black slacks, some J’s and a bow tie.
We laughed and giggled when I said that this was a long tie house, not a bow tie. You were dead set on it. You told me you’d look so fly in a bow tie. You weren’t wrong.
You and I were both dressed exactly how our conversation had depicted.
I hurt son. So much.
But I go on everyday because it’s what you’d have wanted. You wanted to help people. You wanted to change the world, and we are doing that through you.
It started the very next day. When we donated your casket back to the man who made it for you, so he could modify it for a kid around your age who had had a sickness.
Your memory is the only light left in this world for us.

Please hug your children harder. Tell them you love them more. Laugh at their silliness. Observe their curiousness. And don’t take any time with your children for granted.
